Husky Scholastic Chess Tournament at Maryhill Museum of Art - Sept 20, 2025

PREREGISTER TODAY! (K-12 only, $5 discount before 9/11)

Venue: Maryhill Museum of Art (35 Maryhill Museum Drive, Goldendale, WA 98620 - On SR 14). All sections are in the M.J. Murdock Education Center located in the museum.

Check in Time
All sections: 10:00 am - 10:30 am. 
Check in is mandatory. Players who miss the check-in window will not be paired for the first round.

Format:
Two main sections (Elementary (roughly U900), and Upper grades U1200). 
Section cutoffs may change.
All sections: 4 round Swiss, G/25; +5.

Schedule:
All sections (4 rounds): 10:45am, 11:40am, 1:00pm, 2:00pm
Awards: 3:15pm, actual round & award times may vary slightly.

Prizes:
All Sections: Trophies for the top 3 finishers. Medals for players with plus or even scores.

Entry fee
$10 (K-12 school-aged players only) before 9/11. $15 after (female players: Free).

USCF memberships are available at USCF, but will be free to any new or renewing tournament participants.

Lunch: Available at the Museum food court.

US Chess membership:  US Chess membership is required. and will be free with registration thanks to the Oregon Scholastic Chess Federation

If this is your first USCF-rated game, we will offer you a free USCF membership compliments of the Oregon Scholastic Chess Federation.

Pre-registration only: no on-site registration. Register here!

Photo Release: By registering for this event, you hereby give permission for your child to be photographed during the tournaments. We might also reproduce these pictures to be used in educational and/or promotional materials produced by Sherman County School, and or Maryhill Museum of Art. Further, we want to clarify that neither you nor your child will receive any compensation for the use of these photographs. If for any reason you cannot agree with any part of this photo release, please find any photos of you or your player from this event online and share the links with us, we will make every attempt to remove them.

Health Safety: If you are sick (or recovering from illness), please do not come. In that case, please send an email before or on the tournament day and we will refund the full tournament registration fees.

Cancellation & refund policy:

Cancellations (other than for health reasons) made on the day of the tournament are not eligible for refunds. Any cancellations made before the tournament day will be converted into credit for future participation in Sherman County chess events.
