2026 Portland Premier League Chess Tournament

Presented by GPTA (Greater Portland Telugu Association) & Puddletown Chess

Join us for a full day of exciting chess, friendly competition, and a welcoming community atmosphere at the 2026 Portland Premier League (PPL) Chess Tournament! Whether you're an elementary school student playing your first tournament, a middle or high school competitor looking to sharpen your skills, or an adult ready for a competitive challenge, this tournament offers a fun and memorable experience for players of all levels.

Schedule

• Registration & Check-in: By 9:30 AM

• Round 1 Begins: 10:00 AM

• Tournament Ends: Approximately 4:00 PM

Registration Fee: $25 per player
Payment is required via Zelle: gptazelle@gmail.com

Format

• 5-Round Swiss System

• Time Control: G/20 +5 (20 minutes per player with a 5-second increment per move)

• Unrated Tournament (USCF membership and rating are not required)

Sections
Players will compete in one of three sections:

• K-5

• Middle & High School

• Open Section

Adult players may participate in the Open Section only.

Tournament Highlights

• Trophies and cash prizes awarded in each of the three sections

• Three beautiful travel chess sets will be raffled off, with one winner from each section, proudly sponsored by Puddletown Chess

• Complimentary pizza lunch for all players, generously sponsored by Puddletown Chess
