Chess A2Z May Open 2026

Join players of all ages for another exciting day of over-the-board competition, strategic battles, and community connection. Whether you're competing for a trophy or pushing yourself to improve, this tournament is your chance to test your skills and be part of the growing Chess A2Z community.

  • 2027 OSCF State Championship qualifier

  • Date: May 16th, 2026 (Saturday)

  • Check-In Time (check-in is mandatory; players who miss the check-in window will not be paired for the first round):

    • Open section: 9:20am – 9:45am

    • All other sections: 9:45am – 10:15am

Schedule (actual round & award times may vary slightly)

  • Open section (3 rounds): 10:00am, 11:50am, 1:40pm

  • All other sections (4 rounds): 10:30am, 11:40am, 1:00pm, 2:00pm

  • Awards: 3:15pm

Venue: Chinese Evangelical Church (5529 NE Century Blvd, Hillsboro, OR 97124)

  • Open Section: Upper Level

  • All other sections: Lower Level

Open Section: 3 round Swiss, G/45; d5
All other sections: 4 round Swiss, G/25; +5
Adult players can play in the open section only

Prize:

  • Open section: cash prize for top 3 finishers. (1st place: $70, 2nd: $50, 3rd: $30). Medals for players with plus or even scores. Adult players will win cash prizes only.

  • All other sections: Trophies for the top 5 finishers. Medals for players with plus or even scores.

Free game analysis with Woman Grandmaster Zoey Tang, National Master Austin Tang and other Chess A2Z volunteer coaches.

Lunch: Free Pizza for the players.

US Chess Membership: All players must have a current US Chess membership. You may purchase one directly at www.uschess.org. If you prefer, we are happy to assist. Simply complete this form and we will take care of it for you: https://chessa2z.org/8752.

Pre-registration only; no on-site registration.

Photo Release: Chess A2Z may photograph or record portions of the tournament to celebrate our players and share highlights with our community. By registering, you grant permission for your child’s image to be used in educational or promotional materials. If you would prefer your child not appear in photos, please let us know — we are happy to accommodate.

Cancellation & refund policy:

Cancellations made on the day of the tournament are not eligible for refunds.

Please withdraw yourself under Nachess Hub. Once you complete the withdrawal, we will receive a refund notification, enabling us to process your registration fee refund.
