Chess A2Z March Webinar with NM Austin Tang "Practical Prophylaxis: Anticipating Your Opponent’s Ideas"

Chess A2Z March Webinar with NM Austin Tang "Practical Prophylaxis: Anticipating Your Opponent’s Ideas"

Date & Time: Mar 29, 2026, 7–8 PM (PDT)

Location: Zoom (link will be emailed to registrants on the day of the event)

About the Seminar
Prophylaxis is not about defense. Strong chess players don’t just react to threats; they anticipate their opponent’s ideas before they happen. In this webinar, learn how to recognize your opponent’s plans and improve your own position at the same time.

Topics include:  1) How to identify your opponent’s real idea; 2) Stopping threats, if necessary, while developing your pieces; 3) Passive defense vs active defense — when to defend and when to counterattack. Austin will use practical examples to help apply prophylactic thinking in your own games.
