2026 Oregon Girls Championship by Oregon Chess Federation (OCF)
The 2026 Oregon Girls Championship will be held on Sunday, February 8 at the Portland Chess Center in the Lloyd Center Mall, (click here for directions). The tournament will feature multiple sections based on rating and experienced level. Beginners and unrated players are welcome. There will be a dedicated beginner’s section.
The first-place finisher (based on tie-breaks) in the top section is nominated for the 2026 national Haring Tournament of Girls State Champions this summer in Grand Rapids MI.
Sections
Beginner (U600 & Unrated, Grades K-5): G/25 + 5
Intermediate (U900 & Unrated, Grades 6-12): G/25 + 5
Open (900+): G/45 + 5
Format:
Lower sections are a 5-round Swiss, (every player plays every round). Open section is a 4-round Swiss. Up to two half-point byes are available if requested before round one.
Schedule:
Check-in: 9:00–9:45am.
Lower sections: 10:00am, 11:00am, 12:30pm, 1:30pm, and 2:40pm. Open section: 10:00am, 11:40am, 1:20pm, and 3:00pm. Rounds may start earlier if all games finish early.
There will be a complimentary ice cream party before the last round, and the award ceremony will be around 4:00pm.
US Chess Membership
US Chess membership is required. Organizers will register or renew memberships for all players at no charge. If you are registering a player that does not have a US Chess membership, send an email to support@oregonchessfed.org and the organizers will assist to sign them up.

Nomination Policy (subject to change)
If the Susan Polgar Foundation Girls’ Invitational is held, the first-place finisher may choose between the Haring nomination and the SPFGI nomination, and the second-place finisher will receive the remaining nomination. If the SPFGI nomination becomes available after the Haring nomination is finalized, it will be awarded to the second-place finisher.
