Mountain Lakes Chess Camps

CERN Rating Calculator
This rating calculator estimates your rating change on a match-by-match basis. It seems slightly more accurate than the rating calculator on the USCF site -- unless you get a perfect score in a tournament; in that case, it does not add in the bonus points for the perfect performance.

Dan Heisman's Site

Oregon Chess Federation
The OCF is the official state affiliate of the United States Chess Federation in Oregon. The OCF sponsors or holds state level USCF rated tournaments for chess players of all ages. The OCF is also responsible for selecting the Oregon High School representative for the National Denker Tournament of High School Champions, and a female representative for the Polgar National Girls' Championships. The OCF also selects the scholastic representative to participate in the annual Oregon Championships.

Oregon High School Chess Team Association
The OHSCTA has been around since the 1960's providing league play and chess opportunities for high school players. They hold a yearly championship, in February, where they determine the best teams and players in the state! Portland Chess Club
The Portland Chess Club is a vibrant organization providing competitive opportunities, ranging from serious tournaments that attract expert and master level players, to fun and fast-paced blitz on Thursday evenings. United States Chess Federation
The national organization for chess in the US. Cajun Chess

If there is one shrink wrapped software you MUST have in your collection, this is it. Very user friendly interface, suitable from pre-K kids to masters. Powered by one of world's most sophisticated chess engines working in the background. From various levels of "cheats" to tournament play where no assistance or takebacks are allowed. The new 10th edition is a bit slower than the old 9000 version, but has a simpler interface that is less distracting. One drawback - you must have the CD in your computer to play.
