Spring 2010 All-Stars

The Spring All-Stars List was compiled as of April 30, 2010. This is the second of three lists to be published for 2010. To be considered for the All-Stars, you must have been an active, Oregon-based, scholastic chess player in good standing for the current trimester (in this case, December 27, 2009 through April 30, 2010), with an established rating.

CONTINUING IN 2010:
Any player on one or more of the winter, spring or fall lists is eligible to participate in the All-Stars Invitational in October at the Oregon State Capitol building!

The Top 10 lists, below, are based on highest established rating achieved during the 2009-2010 school year.

Surprised by who's here and who's not?
While there are many talented players out there, we chose to base our lists on players who are active in the scholastic chess community. When developing players demonstrate their commitment to chess, play a lot and improve, they can make their way into the All-Star ranks! Likewise, excellent players cannot rest on their laurels. Keep playing and have fun!

All-Star Guidelines: To be considered for the various OSCF All-Star categories, you must have been an active, Oregon-based scholastic chess player for the given period, with an established rating. What does that mean?

  • An active chess player played at least one NWSRS or USCF rated game during the trimester. For the Winter list, the trimester is the last Friday in August through the last Friday in December. For the Spring list, the trimester is the last Friday in December through the last Friday in April. For the Fall List, the trimester is the last Friday in April through the last Friday in August (Some leeway for tournaments played on the Saturday after the last friday of the month if the Saturday falls in the same month).
  • An Oregon-based scholastic chess player was aged 5-18, and attended school (or was schooled at home) full time in Oregon during the trimester -- rising kindergarteners who play during the summer are included.
  • Player must be in good standing with the USCF (if a member) and OSCF and have earned an established rating in either the NWSRS or the USCF. An NWSRS rating is considered established at 15 or more games. A USCF rating is considered established at 26 or more games. Top player honors are based on the highest established rating earned during the school year.
